Yes. Add a short nickname in Size Studio and inspect the preview. The name adds height, so check both dimensions before printing a small tag.

Should I stick it directly to the gift?

A separate card or tag is a lower-risk choice when the gift's finish or the adhesive's removability is unknown. If you apply it directly, follow the material's surface and removal instructions.
